About Us

THE CONTEXT
Austin's Booming Economy
As the long-serving capital of Texas, Austin has earned the alias of "Silicon Hills" due to the rapid boom of technology companies moving offices to Austin, including Apple, Meta, Google, and, most recently, Tesla. This has lead to a dramatic increase in population of 34% since 2010 with Austin being named the fastest growing US metro city.

THE PROBLEM
Displacing Austin Residents
While Austin's growth has certainly brought benefits to the city and many of its residents, it has also brought with it massive increases to housing and rent costs. Similarly, factors like urban renewal, mass incarceration, drug epidemics, widening income inequality, and rising medical care costs all contribute to Austin residents not having access to affordable housing.
OUR SOLUTION
CNRC's Role in Helping
In efforts for over twenty years, CNRC has worked to provide affordable housing, both for sale and rent. Focusing on the Chestnut Neighborhood, we have established two major housing complexes, The Chicon and Franklin Gardens, which house over 75 residents. With over $25 million invested in the Austin community and having received over $500k in grant money, we look to continue supporting our Austin residents by providing affordable housing.
